Glass glue introduction

Glass glue is a material that bonds and seals various glasses with other substrates. It is mainly divided into two categories: silicone glue and polyurethane glue (PU). Silicone glue sealant is what we usually call glass glue, which is divided into acidic and neutral types. Neutral glue is further divided into: stone sealant, mildew-proof sealant, fireproof sealant, pipe sealant, etc.

Silicone glass glue is divided into acidic glue and neutral glue according to its acid-base properties. Acidic glass glue is mainly used for general bonding between glass and other building materials. Neutral glue overcomes the characteristics of acidic glue corroding metal materials and reacting with alkaline materials, so it has a wider range of applications and its market price is slightly higher than that of acidic glue. A relatively special type of neutral glass glue on the market is silicone structural sealant. Because it is directly used for metal and glass structures or non-structural bonding and assembly of glass curtain walls, its quality requirements and product grades are the highest among glass glues, and its market price is also the highest.

Polyurethane sealant (polyurethane sealant) is a sealant with polyurethane rubber and polyurethane prepolymer as the main components. This type of sealant has high tensile strength, excellent elasticity, wear resistance, oil resistance and cold resistance, but poor water resistance, especially alkaline water resistance. It can be divided into three types: heat vulcanization type, room temperature vulcanization type and hot melt type. Among them, the room temperature vulcanization type is divided into single component and two components. It is widely used as a caulking sealing material in buildings, squares, and roads, as well as in automobile manufacturing, glass installation, electronic filling, submarines and rockets.
